The region

Simply enchanting: that's the surrounding region. Schloss Helmsdorf is in a central position by Lake Constance and is ideal for excursions. There's no boredom here. Taking in "the sights," strolling, cycling, hiking or roller skating – the surrounding towns and villages, as well as the landscape, offer active recreation. Whether you like it sporty, comfortable or cultural.

How about, for example, a trip to Friedrichshafen, the home town of the zeppelin? The museum and the hangar will fascinate all ages. Not so technological, but picturesque: the two islands in the lake – Mainau and Reichenau. The one is famous for its magnificent flowers, the other for its vegetables and as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Then there is the lavish Baroque church at Birnau near Überlingen. The prehistoric lake village in Uhldingen, the imposing Schloss Salem with the nearby Affenberg zoo with its free-ranging, cheeky Barbary monkeys…
